Joshua Barnett, NRP, FP-C, C-NPT, PNCCT
I have over 19 years of experience in both in-hospital and pre-hospital settings, with a strong focus on pediatric and family-centered care in the critical care transport environment. I currently serve at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., as a Paramedic Educator, Flight Paramedic, and Shift Leader, supporting one of the nation’s busiest dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport teams.
My role combines clinical care, education, and leadership. I am responsible for onboarding new paramedics, providing continuing education for paramedics, nurses, and EMTs, and serving as chair of the clinical practice committee, where I help develop and update transport protocols. I also serve as the EMSC representative for Washington, D.C.
I am a contributor and instructor for the Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Transport (PNCCT) course and hold multiple advanced certifications, including FP-C, C-NPT, and NRP. I am also a NAEMSA Level 1 Instructor, D.C. HEPRA EMS Instructor, and a certified Crucial Conversations trainer.
I hold an Associate of Emergency Medicine and am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management. I am passionate about advancing pediatric transport medicine, strengthening provider education, and improving outcomes for critically ill children.
