Caleb Ward, MB BChir, MPH, FAAP

Dr. Ward is a pediatric emergency medicine physician-scientist at Children's National Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Ward serves as the Program Director for the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) State Partnership Grant for Washington DC and a member of Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Ward's research focus is the pre-hospital care of sick and injured children by EMS. He is working on developing an evidence-based EMS triage tool to identify children who can be safely managed without ambulance transport to the hospital; this work is supported by a K08 career development award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Dr. Ward is a site principal investigator on several multi-site EMS studies through the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), and helped lead studies analyzing the prehospital application of the PECARN cervical spine clinical decision rule.
