Tress Goodwin, MD
Tress Goodwin, MD is the Pediatric Medical Director for the Regional Emerging Pathogens Treatment Center at Children's National Hospital, in partnership with MedStar Washington Hospital Center. After completing her Emergency Medicine residency, Dr. Goodwin was commissioned into the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, where she served for five years, including a combat deployment to Afghanistan in 2015.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Assistant Incident Commander for the Children's National Emergency Department. In addition to her clinical work across both pediatric and adult emergency departments, Dr. Goodwin has deep expertise in disaster medicine and emergency preparedness, with a focus on pediatric readiness in mass casualty and special pathogen events. She has contributed to hospital-level and regional disaster planning frameworks, and her work bridges frontline emergency care with broader health system resilience.
Dr. Goodwin is an active member of the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN), a national collaborative dedicated to strengthening pediatric preparedness and response capacity across healthcare institutions. She co-chairs the Joint Pediatric Special Pathogens Workgroup, a collaboration between NETEC and PPN, where she leads efforts to develop clinical guidance, training resources, and response protocols for children with high-consequence infectious diseases.
