Session 5 of the DRC will provide participants with information about the focus area of pediatric patient tracking and family reunification, including expectations for participation. The benefits of selecting this topic for a DRC improvement project will be shared. Details on why it is important to have protocols for patient tracking and family reunification (inc. intake forms and plans to set up and staff various areas related to a hospital family reunification center) will be discussed.
Objectives:
- List the benefits of selecting this focus area for a DRC improvement project.
- Explain why it is important to have protocols for pediatric patient tracking and family reunification in your hospital’s disaster plan.
- Discuss questions/strategies for taking an intake of each child and asking questions of parents/guardians to ensure unaccompanied children are reunified with their family accurately and effectively.
- Describe strategies for planning to stand up and staff various areas related to a family reunification center (e.g., family intake center, pediatric safe area, family reunification site, confidential areas for family updates and notifications).
