During the first session, participants will learn more about these special populations from a family perspective, as well as from a hospital and health system standpoint. This first Fireside Chat session will also address what makes this population special in regard to key considerations for providing care for CYSHCN and CMC in everyday emergencies, as well as best practices for incorporation into disaster plans.
Objective:
- Discuss why CYSHCN/CMC and their specific needs must be considered in disaster planning.
- Describe three perspectives (family, hospital, health system) of CYSHCN/CMC and how a disaster could impact each group.
- Identify differences in planning for everyday emergencies for CYSHCN/CMC families and disaster planning for them.
