Timothy Staed, Physician/MD
Personal Statement I am currently an emergency room physician at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital (CGCH) in Saint Louis Missouri. Cardinal Glennon is a level 1 pediatric trauma center affiliated with St. Louis University School of Medicine. I am an adjunct professor in the St. Louis University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics.
B. My clinical duties are at both Cardinal Glennon and several community hospitals in the St. Louis SSM network. Starting in 2017, I was Physician Lead at Cardinal Glennon Hub for Emergency Medicine Services for Children (EMSC) Pediatric Readiness Quality Collaborative (PRQC). Glennon was the hub hospital to ten ‘spoke’ hospitals in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The PRQC had sixteen hub hospitals across the nation and included an additional 140 ‘spoke’ hospitals. EMSC PRQC was part of the National Pediatric Readiness Program (NPRP) begun in 2003. NPRR’s is an initiative to empower all emergency departments (EDs) to provide effective emergency care to children. The goal of EMSC PRQC was to increase NPRP scores across the nation by 10 points. I have also participated in EMSC Pediatric Disaster Quality Collaborative and EMSC PECC Workforce Development. EMSC is beginning a Pediatric Readiness Quality Initiative Collaborative starting June 2023. I am also a Subject Matter Expert for the 2023 EMSC PRQI.
In September of 2021, Cardinal Glennon was named one of five hub hospitals for Pediatric Pandemic Network. PPN is a HRSA funded organization whose mission is to improve everyday pediatric emergency readiness and improve pediatric disaster preparedness and response. Our lead PI, Dr. Rachel Charney, invited me to be Co-PI June 2022. Dr. Charney left in November of 2023. I am PI for PPN at Cardinal Glennon.
Locally, I am physician lead for the Missouri EMSC Pediatric Facility Recognition Program (PFRP). PFRP is a nationwide effort lead by national EMSC and administered by state partners. PFRP’s goal is “ a dedicated effort meant to support each of our State Partnership (SP) EMSC grantees in achieving EMSC Performance Measure 04; the percent of hospitals with an Emergency Department (ED) recognized through a statewide, territorial, or regional standardized program that are able to
stabilize and/or manage pediatric medical emergencies. The Program’s goal for this performance measure is that by 2022, twenty-five percent of hospitals are recognized as part of a statewide, territorial, or regional standardized program that are able to stabilize and/or manage pediatric medical emergencies.
I am physician advisor to the Kirkwood School District in St. Louis Missouri
