Description

Pediatric Pandemic Network pediatric mental and behavioral health experts will present information on trauma-informed mental health care and describe how practical disaster response strategies can improve the care of and outcomes for children. Highlights from this Fireside Chat will offer ideas for how children’s hospitals can improve their disaster plans and protocols in situations that may lead to evacuation, reunification, surge, and triage/infection control/decontamination.

Objectives

  1. Understand the psychological impact of trauma-informed mental health approach on children/youth, their families and ED providers.
  2. Apply trauma-informed care approaches to the DRC focus areas (evacuation, reunification, surge, and triage/infection control/decontamination).
  3. Consider how to improve your facility’s pediatric disaster plan to address the mental and behavioral health of pediatric patients in disaster and crisis events.
