Lisa Umphrey, MD
Dr. Lisa Umphrey MD is a US-trained paediatrician and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After completing her residency at the University of Wisconsin, she moved to rural eastern Uganda and worked with various small non-profits to provide pediatric care and build pediatric capacity in the region. In 2013 she created ATLAS International Inc, a US-based non-profit organization, to support global health partnerships between Ugandan and US colleagues, which she still runs as Executive Director. In 2013, she joined Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and completed several field missions before taking a headquarters position with MSF-France as Paediatric Advisor, overseeing pediatric and neonatal care in projects worldwide. She joined faculty at the University of Colorado in 2021 to come back closer to home, and she works as a pediatric hospitalist, global health researcher, and the Pediatric Global Health Fellowship Director. She also serves in global health leadership and consulting roles with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Association for Pediatric Program Directors, and the International Pediatric Association.
