Gwyn Hetzel, KY Advanced Pratice Paramedic, Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning, Masters of Science in Disaster Planning and Emergency Management

Gwyn Hetzel is an Advanced Practice Paramedic with over three decades of experience, serving in the field since 1993. She holds a BS in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the University of Louisville and an MS in Disaster Planning and Emergency Management from Arkansas State University. Gwyn's clinical interests focus on obstetrics, pediatrics, education and clinician development, with a particular passion for addressing the gaps in EMS education in these areas. She has presented at numerous local, regional and national conferences. Gwyn volunteers with the Norton Children's Hub of the Pediatric Pandemic Network and the Kentucky Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators Conference, supporting education and outreach initiatives. Gwyn serves as the Chair of the Clinical Review Committee and is a member of both the Protocol Committee and the Employee Engagement Committee at Oldham County EMS. To advance clinical excellence, she established a Lunch and Learn program that fosters continuing education, peer teaching, and quality improvement in EMS practice. She also established the Side Quest Squad, an AEMT-focused initiative in Oldham County dedicated to strengthening clinical competency while promoting the mindset that "it's a scope of practice, not a scope of knowledge."
